(Excerpts from our Program Summary PDF): …cross-cultural…Our campuses are located in different and diverse areas of the world: Indonesia (EVI), and Fiji (EVF). Each of these sites provides you with a study-abroad opportunity to be in a foreign host culture for an entire semester, with the student body of each campus made up of a combination of local and international students. …educational…Although our focus is spiritual growth, and our sites are located in beautiful regions of this little planet, don’t let us fool you—EV is a tough semester academically. The learning process takes place within outdoor and intercultural formats that are innovative, hands-on, challenging, and fun. And you can earn up to 18 credit hours towards your college degree. …Christian college students…The program is open only to students who have made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This creates an environment conducive to spiritual growth and interaction. At the same time, it is open to all Christian denominations and college backgrounds. …grow in active faith…The books, the adventures, the classes, and even the Fun Student Night activities are all geared towards growth in your relationship with God. But “faith without works is dead,” so we want you to grow in ways that go beyond the devotional stage, so you can have an impact in your church, school, work, and community when you go back. EduVenture's Four CornerstonesThere are four main elements mentioned in our mission statement above, through which we strive to reach our objectives. Each of these four tools is described in detail in the following pages. They are just outlined here to give you a general idea of our program: Discipleship…Through activities that promote friendship and mentorship between students and staff, you will have plenty of opportunities to learn and grow in your relationship with Christ. Academics…Five to six courses are intertwined interactively, covering issues that range from leave-no-trace camping to spiritual warfare; from intercultural ministry to physical fitness; and from language acquisition to personal accountability, among others. Adventure…Depending on the site you end up selecting, you’ll be rock-climbing or snorkeling, surfing or spear fishing, white-water rafting or canoeing, horse-back riding or palm-tree climbing. But regardless of the site, you will hike, camp, trek, and run to your heart’s content! Community living…Our sites are remote. Our communities are small. Our relational elements are intentional. We eat, camp, study, sing, laugh, pray, and cry together. Get the picture? It’s life together at its best! |
